Team Secret’s IGL turned heads after a record-breaking low ACS and a zero-kill map against Zeta Division, with some fans urging JessieVash to retire from VCT.
In an Esports scene as competitive and widely popular as Valorant, we often hear about our favorite pro players’ best plays and record-breaking highs. However, it’s not every day that we hear record-setting lows on this level of competitive play.
Most recently, the Valorant community was surprised to witness a record-breaking low ACS in a VCT official match in the partnership era. Team Secret’s IGL and long-time player, JessieVash, raked in a mere 24 ACS and ended the 19-round match with zero kills.
This nearly impossible feat of having no kills on a map gained attention from fans worldwide. Even Team Secret themselves were able to poke fun in the unlikely incident.
JessieVash’ zero-kill performance sparks retirement debate with VCT fans
While the team themselves were able to poke fun at what could’ve been an embarrassing moment for JessieVash, some fans couldn’t simply let the incident pass. Some fans note on the team’s Facebook post about the IGL’s feat that JessieVash should pass the torch and work as Team Secret’s coach instead.
It is noteworthy that JessieVash is one of the oldest players in VCT at 34 years old, second only to Natus Vincere’s Ange1, who is five months older. Given this, some VCT fans poked fun at JessieVash’s age, which is higher than his average damage per round.
Despite his record-setting performance against Zeta Division, Team Secret eventually emerged victorious with a two-to-one map record versus the Japanese team. With this win secured, JessieVash still cemented his importance as a valuable IGL to the team.
Moreover, after his zero-kill record, JessieVash paved an early road to redemption on the next map. He scored 14 kills to only 10 deaths in Team Secret’s triumphant third-map win against Zeta.
While we do not often hear of zero-kill records in VCT, the unlikely feat was replicated in the next match between BLEED and Rex Regum Qeon. RRQ’s fl1pzjder also scored zero kills in their second-map match, albeit scoring a higher ACS than JessieVash.
Team Secret’s next match is against VCT Pacific’s second-ranking team, Paper Rex, on April 21st at 20:00 KST.
