Valorant’s in-game tournament ramps up its system to connect dedicated players with the possibility of going pro.
When Valorant initially overhauled its pro tournament system in 2023, Riot Games promised that the Premier future would give its wider playerbase a chance to become pros. Announced alongside the franchising format and Ascension, many players awaited the possibility of going head-to-head with their favorite VCT players someday.
Riot Games has announced an overhauled Premier promotion system, where winning teams will rake in ranked points with leaderboards and an invitational division for the top teams.
Unlike Valorant Competitive, the ranking system in Premier will involve the whole team. This means that the team dynamic that Pros have would be instilled in the players early on in their careers.
Premier’s ranking system has five levels – Open, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite, and Contender. Meanwhile, the top 32 teams in the Contender ranks in each division/region will qualify for an Invitational bid.
Beyond the rankings, Valorant has also introduced region-specific Promotion paths, through which the best contenders can earn a spot on the VCT Challenger’s League.
Furthermore, Riot Games clarifies that roster changes would not affect nor diminish the group’s promotion. Best-performing teams would even have the chance to move up multiple ranks depending on how pro-ready their performance is.
The eligibility and format for Contender and Invitational levels are as follows:
Riot Games hope to rollout the changes to Premier in the upcoming season.
