Riot Games recently released a sneak peek of Valorant’s newest map, Abyss, and it’s one of the most game-changing maps up to date! Here are some of the secrets and tricks we know for Abyss.
The recent Valorant Champions Tour Masters in Shanghai final was a much-awaited event for many reasons. Besides the thrilling battle between GenG and Team Heretics, many players worldwide were eager to see the new map of the show match.
It’s nearly an understatement to say that the new map is nothing like any other Valorant player has seen before. Abyss has no external borders – meaning there is an “outside map” where you can fall to death if you’re not careful enough.
Given this brand-new mechanic, we’ve seen some fantastic tricks and “secrets” from players who were able to play the new patch earlier than expected. Here are some Abyss tricks you can do when the patch goes live tomorrow!
It’s the perfect playground for Raze
The Outside Map has no “borders,” unlike the shore on Breeze or the cliff on Fracture. While this means immediate death for some unlucky players, this also opens up a limitless possibility for combination plays with Raze’s satchels.
A clip from Twitch streamer Keeoh shows that you may “satchel out” beyond map boundaries and use it to take an advantageous position or cook an unexpected play for your team.
So even if Raze mains were sad to hear changes to her kit and mobility for the upcoming patch, there’s a silver lining to look forward to when you queue up Abyss!
Be careful with your teleport!
The “no boundaries” description of Abyss applies to players on the ground and to all abilities that travel across the map! It’s time to say goodbye to being used to your teleport stopping on a wall on other maps.
You could teleport to your death here in Abyss!
Falling to death (death optional)
While you should be wary of using your teleport, you could also use it to catch your enemies off guard! Just when they thought they saw you jump to your (immediate) death with their own eyes, you can snap back into place and catch them in a disadvantageous moment with your teleport.

Astra stars can drag you off the map
If Agents with movement kits can use their abilities offensively on Abyss, you may also use Astra’s Gravity Well ability as a key point of defense for this map.
A very thin bridge section on the map’s A Site is a perfect spot for planting and post-plant Gravity Wells that can cause your enemies to drop to their immediate deaths.
Valorant’s update 8.11 will go live on June 11, 2024. Besides the Abyss update, this will feature the much-awaited Duelist nerfs to Reyna, Iso, and Neon.
