A Stardew Valley player was casually planting trees when a prismatic shard suddenly popped out of nowhere.
The player shared a clip showing themselves planting multiple trees on their farm. This would be a normal day in a Stardew Valley farmer’s life until a Prismatic Shard appeared, spawning out of nowhere.
Unsurprisingly, the player appeared stunned after realizing that they had just obtained a Prismatic Shard — one of the rarest items in the game. After a brief pause, the player then casually went back to their tree planting.
The player late revealed that this may be a glitch in a multiplayer server, as his wife was mining for Iridium in the Skull Cavern. Another player explained that this is a glitch when playing in multiplayer; non-hosts who are mining and breaking rocks may lead to prismatic shards spawning in the hosts’ farms or houses instead.
In another player’s multiplayer game, the mysterious appearance of Prismatic Shards seems to occur frequently when their wife, an avid explorer and miner in the Skull Cavern, is engrossed in her activities. This benefits the player they end up with a bunch of Prismatic Shars while their wife is collecting them.
A Prismatic Shard is an incredibly useful item. It can be used in various ways, such as obtaining the Galaxy Sword, as an ingredient in a recipe to create a Wedding Ring for multiplayer proposals to another farmer, or simply given as a universally loved gift (except for Haley).
Besides the magical spawning of Prismatic Shards, players may also acquire them through mining a Mystic Stone with a 25% chance in the Mines floor 100+, Skull Cavern, and Quarry, 4% chance from an Iridium Node in the Skull Cavern, Quarry, and the Volcano Dungeon, 3.8% chance from the Treasure Room in the Skull Cavern, and many more options but with percentages less than 0.1.
If only this glitch could be done consistently, farmers’ lives in Stardew Valley would be a lot easier! Of course, this would become a bug which ConcernedApe, the game’s developer, would most definitely fix in an update.
