Stardew Valley players have started to hoard pets following the game’s 1.6 update.
Stardew Valley is a cozy farming simulation available for various platforms such as PC, mobile, PlayStation, and more. The game was developed and published by ConcernedApe and was initially released in 2016.
In the game, players play as farmers who inherited their grandpa’s old farm plot in Pelican Town. Players can enjoy activities such as planting crops, fishing, exploring the Mines and Caverns, or simply adoring their pets.
Before the Stardew Valley 1.6 update was released on March 19 for the PC, players could only have one pet dog or cat on their farm. After maxing the hearts for their starter one, the update allowed players to have more than one pet.
Some players took this to the extreme as they started hoarding the pets after the 1.6 update.
A Stardew Valley player rejoiced that there is no limit to the number of pets players can have. They shared that they bought more than 250 cats and have no plans to stop.
In the photo they shared, there were cats in each part of their house. Thankfully, the 1.6 update also lessened the time players could push past their pets.
Another player asked whether players can now put hats on cats and dogs as they could with horses in the past. This is another new feature brought in by the 1.6 Stardew Valley update, with an addition of five new hats for you and your pets.
The Stardew Valley pets also help those grieving the loss of their real-life pets. One fan shared that the 1.6 feature of adopting pets made them revel their grief as they lost their border collie last year. Seeing the pet sleep brings them happiness and reminds them of their time with their beloved pet.
Pets are a delight in real life and in Stardew Valley. Having a companion to keep with you definitely adds coziness. Of course, players could always opt not to adopt one if they’re uncomfortable with them.
