The Stardew Valley dev’s latest patch note ensures there will be less pet blocking happening in the 1.6 update.
Stardew Valley is a cozy farming simulation game in which players can relax and enjoy the countryside as they inherit their grandfather’s farm near Pelican Town. It was developed by Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone and initially released for PC in 2016. The game is constantly updated to add new content and fix existing issues.
Players are free to do what they want in the game, whether focusing on planting and growing crops or exploring the mines. They can also build coops and barns, buy farm animals from Marnie, and care for them. In addition to farm animals such as cows, chickens, and even ostriches, players also have the choice of pet on the character creation screen. They could choose one of three types of cats or dogs to accompany them on the farm.
In the latest patch note from ConcernedApe for the 1.6 update, which will be released on March 19, they shared that they reduced the time required to push against a pet before it started to shake and let players pass through it. This went from 1.5 seconds to .75 seconds, which is .75 seconds faster.
As fun as having a pet cat or dog in your house or on your farm can be, it can also sometimes be a nightmare. Many players shared that they passed out so many times inside their farmhouse that they couldn’t pass through their pet, who decided to sleep in the doorway.
Despite being a small update, a Stardew Valley player said that this is incredibly significant. This is evident as another player shared a clip of them trying to enter their house, but their pet cat wouldn’t budge. In crucial moments, such as when it’s already 1:50 am, and you’re about to pass out, pets blocking the way would cost you half the stamina for the next day.
I’ve personally tested this on my sweet pet cat, who’s chilling outside and totally not blocking my path. It took a second for them to start shaking and approximately half a second for me to pass through.
The Stardew Valley 1.6 update will bring many small but helpful fixes, such as the harvesting method being equally faster for left-to-right and right-to-left. Be on the lookout for more Stardew Valley updates!
