Stardew Valley developer ConcernedApe has teased fans regarding a map change in the upcoming 1.6 update.
Stardew Valley is an indie farming simulator developed by ConcernedApe or Eric Barone. It was first released in February 2016 and is available on platforms such as Windows, macOS, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.
In the game, players can enjoy different activities such as farming, mining, fishing, or just going around town and different areas to socialize with the villagers. In the current version of the game, players can open the map and see which area they are in.
A player noticed while they were playing that the map didn’t match the season. Their game was currently in winter, and when they opened the map, it was still “regular.” ConcernedApe, the developer of the game, only responded with a sunglasses smile emoji.
Stardew Valley players are now assuming that changes are coming to the map in the game’s 1.6 update. One Reddit user stated that the developer confirmed that the player icon will follow the exact location of the map instead of showing which region they’re in.
Another player shared that nobody knows the answer for sure, but time will tell. They speculated that the answer was yes, as ConcernedApe would’ve said no instead of an emoji as a reply to the tweet.
A Reddit user added: “I would say we can pretty much assume yes. He stated that this update is focused on changing little things in the game and improving them. This feels like one of those changes for sure.”
Some Stardew Valley fans expressed that the game is a farming simulator that has personified apple beings and Krobus, thinking that the map’s ability to switch seasons is fine. While another believes that it’s also alright if it’s static, thinking it’s not a big deal if the map doesn’t match the season.
Indeed, only time can tell whether these map changes will be applied in the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley.
While the map changing along with the season is a nice little touch, it would actually be useful for it to show the farmer’s actual location. Stay on the lookout for more Stardew Valley updates!
