League of Legends pro player IG Leyan received a massive fine from LPL after showing inappropriate behavior toward a stuffed toy during a co-stream with a female streamer.
Riot Games is known to uphold strict standards towards their pro players. We’ve seen players fined surprising amounts for misbehavior during broadcasts and even the usual “trash talking” during pro play. However, it’s not often that we hear enormous fines due to lewd acts.
Invictus Gaming’ Leyan surprised fans and the Chinese League of Legends community by being fined a whopping $7,000 (50,000 CNY) after displaying inappropriate behavior on stream. The fine imposed by LPL also includes a suspension for two matches and a separate fine of $2,700 (20,000 CNY) to Invictus Gaming.
On the official announcement of LPL, the organization stated that Leyan “ has made attempts to violate regulations through his words and has engaged in morally controversial behavior, resulting in negative impact.”
The clip from Leyan’s stream shows the player pretending to be in a sexually suggestive act with a plush toy. Leyan committed the lewd acts while co-streaming with a female streamer, which further worsens the context of the aforementioned acts.
Moreover, Leyan also betted with the streamer that he would vape on the LPL stage if he lost the streaming competition. Vaping is banned on the pro League of Legends stage, with Team WE’s FoFo banned due to previous behavior.
Fans noted that this is not the first time Invictus Gaming’s jungler got banned and fined for on-stream acts. One fan noted that Leyan was suspended for multiple tournaments and games in 2020 for abusing bugs on a solo-ranked queue.
Despite not qualifying for MSI Invitationals, Invictus Gaming is remembered in the recently concluded LPL Spring Split as the only team to which the top-seeded Bilibili Gaming bowed. However, fans poked fun at Leyan’s ban as more controversial than a streak-breaking win.
Invictus Gaming finished 10th in the overall rankings of LPL Spring 2024 with a record of 8 wins to 8 losses.
