If you spend a few hours a day playing League of Legends ranked games, this fan’s GeoGuessr’s spinoff may be a breeze!
The League of Legends player base may be mixed in skill rating, but it’s safe to say that the game is filled with players committed to playing for at least two years or more. If you belong in this category, you may think you know the Summoner’s Rift map like the back of your hand – but do you?
A LoL player had the bright idea of using the mechanics of GeoGuessr to test player knowledge of the classic ranked game map. It may sound like an easy task, but ten questions in, and I barely made the right answer!
If the GeoGuessr game doesn’t ring a bell, it’s an online quiz game that tests people’s knowledge or “educated guess” of geography and locations based on photos from Street View of Google Maps.
While it started as a fun online quiz game, many online streamers have expanded their interest in GeoGuessr with official “pro” competitions and speed runs.
Other LoL players who tried their expertise (or luck) in the LoL Guessr found the game more challenging than they thought. The current season’s Summoner’s Rift map may be especially difficult, as one of the major changes is balancing the elements of the bottom and top sides of the map.
While most League of Legends players may be familiar with some elements (bushes, rocks, platforms, and others) on the map, the zoomed-in captures leave little information about the possible location of these obstacles.
I’ve had some luck identifying near-miss locations of corners and other natural elements near the river, but I guess I’ll be better off with a GeoGuessr (or LoL Guessr) of the Howling Abyss map.
