The excitement of League of Legends and Faker fans over the upcoming Hall of Legends skin was cut short upon the news of its price.
Faker’s decade-long tenure on the top ranks of the League of Legends pro scene cemented him as the first inductee of the Hall of Legends, a decree that no LoL fan nor player would dare refute. Even before the news was official, many fans were already eager to burst their wallets open on the commemorative skin Riot Games may release to celebrate the induction.
While rumors of Faker’s special Ahri skin have been floating since the start of the year, I dare speak for everyone when I say that no one expected its hefty price tag. Many guessed that the Hall of Legends skin would be the most expensive yet – but no one expected its $500 USD cost.
The full collection, featuring the Legacy of The Demon King Ahri Skin, costs 59,260 Riot Points. The package will include a special “Final Boss Faker” player title, banner, border, and a signature move and finisher for the Ahri skin.
To say that Faker fans (and non-fans) were surprised is honestly an understatement. Many speculated the news to be fake due to its unbelievable price. For comparison, the current most expensive skin in League of Legends costs merely 3,250 RP or around $25 USD.
While the most dedicated T1 and Faker fans will still rush to swipe their cards to obtain the commemorative and limited-edition skins, some fans ridiculed the cost because the famed pro player himself never uses skins during pro matches.
Even purchasing the whole bundle itself in the game is quite a task itself. The biggest bundle a LoL player may purchase in the launcher only totals 10,000 RP. Riot Games will release a special RP bundle allowing players to buy the whole Faker collection to remedy this.
