Honkai: Star Rail drip markets Yunli for version 2.4, surprising players with another Destruction character.
Honkai: Star Rail, the acclaimed turn-based role-playing gacha game from HoYoverse, continues to expand its universe by introducing Yunli, a new Physical 5-star character on the Path of Destruction. Released internationally on April 2023, the game has captivated players with its intricate storylines, compelling characters, and strategic combat.
Recently, the community has been abuzz with speculation and excitement as HoYoverse teased a new character through its infamous “drip marketing” technique. The latest addition to the roster is Yunli, a 5-star Physical Destruction character.
Described as a sword hunter from the Xianzhou Zhuming and the granddaughter of the legendary “Flaming Heart” General Huaiyan, Yunli is known for her fierce dedication to eradicating cursed swords. Her backstory paints her as a prodigious swordmaster with a frank and straightforward personality, attributes honed under her grandfather’s tutelage.
Yunli’s intriguing backstory and fierce combat skills position her as a character with significant potential in both narrative and gameplay. Brenna Larsen will portray Yunli’s English voice in the game.
The announcement has stirred mixed reactions from the community. A player expressed confusion, stating, “HUH, WHO ARE YOU? LMFAOOOOOO.” While others appreciated her design despite seeing her for the first time, saying, “Super pretty design!”
Many players had anticipated that Sunday would be the next character to be drip-marketed, making Yunli’s reveal all the more surprising. Content creator Dish voiced the thoughts of many, tweeting, “She’s very pretty 🙂 I love her hair color. NOW ADDRESS THE SUNDAY SITUATION.” Players added a note of concern about Sunday: “Where’s Sunday??? Where??? Cmon 💔 SUNDAY???? PLEASE.”
Honkai: Star Rail has been introducing a series of Destruction characters, with Firefly set to arrive in version 2.3. This will mark two consecutive releases of Destruction characters, as Yunli is poised to debut in version 2.4. She is the newest character from Xianzhou since version 1.6, following Xueyi, another Destruction character.
