Robin, the Halovian singer from Penacony, will be gracing everyone with a song in Honkai: Star Rail version 2.2 “Then Wake to Weep.” She would be available in the first phase of the update, along with Topaz & Numby.
How good is Robin as a playable character?
Robin is a Harmony: Physical character, a support-type who would provide buffs for her allies. Her Skill “Pinion’s Aria” would increase the damage to her allies by a percentage that would last three turns. It’s also worth noting that her Talent increases the CRIT DMG of all her allies and every time these allies attack enemies, she regenerates Energy.
Now, why is this Talent important? With it, she can fill up her Energy faster, which will allow her to use her Ultimate more often. She’ll enter the Concerto state after using her ult, which would allow all her allies to take action immediately, not just a boost. Also, this increases all allies’ ATK (scaled off Robin’s ATK).
Not only that, but each time an ally attacks the enemy, she would deal additional Physical damage (scaled off Robin’s ATK) once. The CRIT Rate is set at 100% and CRIT DMG at 150% for this damage. She’s also immune to any crowd control debuffs.
Her Technique is also unique as she creates a dimension around her that lasts for 15 seconds. All enemies that are in the dimension won’t attack and will follow her while it is active. Entering a battle while it is active provides Robin with 5 Energy at the start of each wave.
Do I need Robin’s Signature Light Cone?
Robin’s Signature Light Cone is the “Flowing Nightglow.” Robin would gain one stack of Cantillation each time an ally attacks. A stack of Cantillation increases her Energy Regeneration Rate by a percentage and can stack up to five times. Using her Ultimate removes Cantillation and is replaced by Cadenza, which increases her ATK and the team’s damage dealt for one turn.
From what I gather from the Light Cone and her skills, she benefits the most from Energy Regeneration Rate. Of course, her Signature Light Cone is perfect for her, but there are other alternatives available, such as “But the Battle Isn’t Over,” which is Bronya’s light cone, “Memories of the Past,” or “Past and Future.”
If you’re really dedicated to Robin, then go for her Signature Light Cone, but for me, it’s better to get her first and second Eidolon if you have the spare Stellar Jades than the light cone. If not, and you’re looking to pull for other characters (probably Firefly), then save up.
Is Robin Worth pulling for?
While Robin isn’t a damage dealer and just looks like “another support character,” I believe she has the potential to be one of the best support characters in the game. I dare say that she’s a little bit close to Ruan Mei’s potential, one of the most used characters, especially in MoC and other game modes, but of course, Ruan Mei’s a lot more “universal” (can be used in almost any team setups).
Now, if you have a Follow-up Attack (FuA) characters such as Dr. Ratio, Topaz & Numby, and others, you’d benefit a lot from having Robin on the same team as them. Remember that while in Concerto state (use Ultimate), she’ll deal additional Physical damage for each ally’s attack. This includes the follow-up attacks that they do. Definitely pull for her if you want to build or have a FuA team.
However, Robin’s not restricted to FuA teams, as she can also work in dual DPS team comps or DoTs. So if you have characters like Kafka, Black Swan, Acheron, and others, you can definitely benefit from having Robin.
Or, pull for her if you just like her as a character, her character design, want to hear her sing during her Ultimate, or love her songs, go for it!
