Fans of Honkai: Star Rail have brought attention to a highly desired feature notably absent in Genshin Impact, resulting in comparisons between the two games.
Honkai: Star Rail (HSR) is a strategy turn-based role-playing game by HoYoverse, who also developed Genshin Impact. Players will board the Astral Express and get to experience the different stories and events that take place on each planet. Genshin Impact, on the other hand, is an open-world action role-playing game. Players have the freedom to explore the different regions in the game and participate in the events they offer.
These games have similarities, such as the gacha system, elemental combat system, visuals, and art style, and both have their lore and stories. Despite the resemblance in some ways, they still have their distinctions.
This is especially true regarding the events between the two games. A player shared their thoughts on how the permanent events in Honkai: Star Rail are “so good.” They stated that this wasn’t just about the rewards but also because newer players could experience the story. They saw other posts regarding Genshin Impact expressing that they regret missing out on the story in the event quests, which means they’d need to search on YouTube to witness the lore and development.
A Reddit user agreed that the permanent events in Honkai: Star Rail are among the best features of the game. They were questioning why this wasn’t present in the earlier HoYoverse titles. A reply explained that the development team for Genshin Impact didn’t pay much attention to it as Honkai Impact 3rd mainly had events unrelated to the main story but soon realized its importance, so they implemented it in Honkai: Star Rail.
Another player shared that they find having the events and their story available at the players’ convenience great but due to the storage issues they are facing, they wished that there was an option to delete completed these permanent events.
A Reddit user replied, stating that these events may take up unnecessary storage after four years, similar to what’s happening in the PC version of Genshin Impact. There are movie files that exist but cannot be replayed and deleted, resulting in the game taking up 90GB of space.
The ability to delete such files to free up space exists in the mobile version of Genshin Impact. In another HoYoverse title, Tears of Themis, players stated that they can remove past events’ data. This led them to believe this would eventually be implemented in both games.
Whether the past events will come back in Genshin Impact or not, players can still enjoy the main story and available event quests. For now, stay tuned for more updates on Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact!
