Are you ready to dominate Bloons TD 6 leaderboards by defeating the sneaky Reality Warper Phayze? Here’s our guide to defeating this boss!
Among the best challenges in Bloons TD 6 is defeating a Boss Bloon. Aside from its Monkey Money rewards, it also gives successful players a special badge displayed on their profile!
Phayze is one of the newer Boss Bloons in BTD6 with an entirely special mechanic – the boss itself is Camo, which means you need to rely on Ninjas and other camo-specialty defense towers for this boss!
If you’re ready to reap the rewards of defeating Phayze, here’s our sure-fire guide to conquering the “Reality Warper!”
Phayze Abilities and Levels
Camo Property
Unlike other bosses, Phayze is the only one who has Camo property on its own. This means that you need to build your defenses with popping power in mind and their ability to see and pierce through Camo.
Moreover, Phayze also has the Radar Jam ability, which removes Camo Detection buffs, including the Camo removal of some towers like the Ice Monkey and Camo Detection of the Monkey Village. You must invest in built-in Camo detection like Ninja, Sniper, Monkey Ace, and Wizard Monkey.
The Radar Jam triggers every 24 seconds.
Reality Shield
Aside from its Camo Property, Phayze can also deflect attacks when they reach a skull. This shield also increases its speed. Players must destroy this shield before they can cause damage to Phayze again.
Teleportation
Phayze’s “warping” title comes from its ability to teleport in advance to a distance equivalent to 8% of the track. This warping ability also moves the spawn point of all other Bloons, so make sure you don’t put all your defensive towers near the entrance.
Best Heroes For Phayze Bloons TD6
Geraldo
Geraldo is an S-tier BTD6 hero, and one of the most flexible heroes for Boss Bloons challenges. Geraldo’s unique selling point is his store, which opens up many possibilities regarding your defensive prowess. Another perk of using Geraldo is the Rare Quincy Action Figure, which climbs up worth at every level. This item is ideal for unlocking higher-tier defenses by Skull 2 or 3.
Benjamin
Boss Bloon’s strategies are half about the popping power and another half about your farming and economy strategy. Benjamin is your best friend when talking about the economy in BTD 6. I find getting Tier 5 towers by Round 40 (first Boss appearance) much easier whenever I have Benjamin on my team.
Early Strategy for Phayze
Like my usual tip in other Boss Bloon early game strategies, you should only place one tower that can easily clear early-round waves like Boomerang Monkey or Tack Shooter as a first line of defense. If you have the Bonus Monkey! knowledge from the tree, you could rely on the Dart Monkey and focus on getting Benjamin and Geraldo as soon as possible.
If you’re playing on a water map (or a map with a lake), you could also use the trusty Monkey Buccaneer with early Lead penetration and Camo detection. This could get you until the late 30+ rounds.
After getting the Heroes, you should invest in Banana Farms (or Merchantmen if Banana Farms are not available.)
For Round 40, these are my two recommended defensive towers for Phayze.
Elite Defender (x-2-5 Sniper Monkey) | Elite Defender may be a more expensive choice for early-game Bosses, but it does its job well and can help you until Skull 3 (Level 80). While I usually run Elite Defender with the first crosspath, getting the Camo Detection is more beneficial to defeating Phayze. |
Sticky Bomb(2-x-4 Ninja Monkey) | Sticky Bomb is always my go-to defensive tower in first-level Boss Bloons (aside for Dreadbloon). It’s cheap, effective, and can be improved to its Tier 5 upgrade in late game. This is also a good option for a starter defensive tower, as the Ninja Monkey Paragon (Ascended Shadow) is a great choice for late-game Phayze. |
Best Towers for Phayze
Pirate Lord (x-5-2 Monkey Buccaneer) | Pirate Lord is another relatively cheap option to defeat Phayze. Remember that while Camo buffing towers like the Monkey Village and Ice Monkey are often used to combat Camo Bloons, these won’t do any damage when Phayze uses the Radar Jam ability. Aside from its capability to pierce Camo, the Pirate Lord also allows you to sink MOAB bloons (aside from the Boss) to bolster your defenses. |
M.A.D. (2-5-x Dartling Gunner) | If Ninja Monkey is my trustworthy defense tower for early boss rounds, you’ll always find me using M.A.D. for Skull 2 and 3. Aside from its capability to pierce Camo properties, this tower also has a great popping power, demolishing not only the boss but all other Bloons it spawns. |
Apex Plasma Master (Dart Monkey Paragon) | Apex Plasma Master is one of the Paragon towers that has the natural ability to detect Camo Bloons. And given its cheap price point compared to other Paragon towers, Apex Plasma Master is a great addition to your defenses during Skull 3 (for elite) or Skull 4. |
Flying Fortress (x-2-5 Monkey Ace) | The key to defeating Phayze is boosting your defenses with single-target Camo-detecting defensive towers, a field where the Flying Fortress excels. If you find yourself short in Coins and Popping Power in Skull 3 (if you can’t afford a Paragon yet), the Flying Fortress is a good choice. |
Ascended Shadow (Ninja Monkey Paragon) | When it comes to Camo Detection, the Ninja is always your top pick. Which also means that its Paragon tower is your best choice in late-game Phayze. The Ascended Shadow has high popping power and Camo detection – two things you need to conquer Phayze. |
