Genshin Impact’s latest event, Rolling Crossfire, is under fire for its “awful” controls, frustrating players across platforms.
Genshin Impact, the action role-playing game developed by HoYoverse, has been a hit since its release in 2020. It offers an open-world adventure filled with elemental magic and character-switching. However, the game’s latest event, Rolling Crossfire, has sparked a wave of criticism from the community, particularly regarding its control system.
Rolling Crossfire introduces a remote cannon gameplay mechanic, inviting players to defend against hordes of Slimes with a turret. While the concept offered a refreshing challenge, many players were upset by the event’s “awful” control scheme.
Reports of inverted controls have plagued players on mobile, PC, and consoles alike, turning what was intended to be a fun event into a source of frustration.
A player has questioned other players about their experience with the Rolling Crossfire event. Many have shared their experiences, and the majority had an “awful” experience due to the controls of the said event.
Players have expressed dissatisfaction with the necessity of character presence during the event and questioned the decision to use inverted controls. “It’s awful on the controller too. Why are they inverted?” asked one player, highlighting a common grievance that the setup unnecessarily complicates the event.
Despite these criticisms, some players acknowledge the event’s potential, with comments pointing out that while the controls are “bad albeit manageable,” there’s no excuse for such a fundamental flaw in an otherwise well-conceived event.
“There’s just no reason for it to be bad, though, like it’s the one thing they should’ve gotten right first,” another player shared.
I tried out the Rolling Crossfire event on my PC and struggled with the inverted controls. I had a hard time aiming because the cannon aimed to the right after I clicked the left button, which was frustrating. Overall, it is a simple event that the controls make complicated.
“Really annoying to control; I missed aiming the special ball thing a lot, so I gave up and spammed randomly,” remarked another player, showing that they just gave up on the event.
As HoYoverse addresses these concerns, it will be interesting to see how the game evolves and how player feedback will shape future events.
