Fans of Genshin Impact warn other players who have yet to watch Arlecchino’s animated short to begin with her quest first. This may contain spoilers!
Genshin Impact is an open-world gacha action role-playing game (ARPG) developed by miHoYo and published worldwide by HoYoverse. The game was released in September 2020 for PC, mobile, and PlayStation 4, and in April 2021 for PlayStation 5.
Genshin Impact takes players on an adventure as the Traveler who gets stuck in Teyvat and saves Paimon by fishing her out of the water. Players follow the journey through the different regions, meeting different people and helping them out.
One of the many people Travelers meet is Arlecchino, the Fourth of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers and director of the House of the Hearth. As she was recently released as a playable character, there were trailers and an animated short, but fans warn others not to watch it before doing her story quest.
As the Reddit user stated, Arlecchino’s story quest assumes that the player did not watch the short. They added, “As such, a lot of the mysteries are only maintained provided you do not have the information presented in the short.” They then advised those who haven’t watched the short to do the quest first as it would improve their experience with the story.
Another Genshin Impact player agreed as they expressed their disappointment as they thought that Arlecchino’s quest would expand more on what the animated short showed. They also wished the game showed the animation in-game at the end of the story quest instead.
Some fans believe that it adds Dramatic Irony, as players know something that the characters don’t. They wonder how the characters will interpret the details. Another found it surprising how many people are genuinely upset at the animated short but understood their disappointment. Despite this, it was still a good experience for them and don’t regret watching the short.
If you’ve finished Arlecchino’s story quest or want to view the animated short “The Song Burning in the Embers,” you can watch it here:
The animated short itself was really good, and I personally watched it before I got to do Arlecchino’s story quest. Since she’s a new character, related material such as the video is good marketing but could be a let-down due to the spoilers. Still, new Genshin Impact players would get to enjoy and experience her story in-game despite not watching the animated short.
