Wuthering Waves, Palworld, and more games will be coming to macOS this 2024 as announced in the WWDC24!
The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is an information technology conference held annually by Apple. It showcases new software and technologies in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and more. It’s also hosted for third-party software developers who work on apps for Apple devices.
This year, at WWDC 2024, Apple announced more games being ported for MacOS. Popular titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Death Stranding: Director’s Cut are already playable on the Mac. These all use Metal 3, which according to Craig Federighi, the senior vice president (SVP) of software engineering at Apple Inc., allows these games to “deliver smooth frame rates, provide high-quality visuals, and take full advantage of Apple silicon.”
Games like Wuthering Waves, Palworld, Assasin’s Creed Shadows, Control Ultimate Edition, and others are coming to Mac this year. There are currently no specific release dates mentioned for most of the games except for Frostpunk 2, which is coming next month, and Assasin’s Creed Shadows, which will be released on November 15 alongside PC and consoles.
Craig Federighi also discussed the Game Porting Toolkit 2, a tool “enabling developers to bring even more advanced games to Mac, with improved Windows compatibility and shader debugging tools.” He continued, “And it’s much easier to bring Mac games to iPad and iPhone with Xcode support that lets developers unify their game code and shaders across devices.”
Some Wuthering Waves fans were excited when they saw the game would be available on Mac this year. They shared that they’ve wanted to play on the Mac for so long with better quality and native controls.
Some Wuthering Waves players were concerned that Kuro Games would need to fix the mobile version first. Another player shared their mobile gaming experience in Wuthering Waves, how the camera’s not looking in the direction they needed to see or dodging in random directions.
Another fan asked when Wuthering Waves would be out, and another player speculated that it would probably take a month or so, depending on the release of the software update. They shared that they are excited as their Mac can be helpful for their gaming.
While many are concerned or excited for Wuthering Waves, there’s not a lot of Palworld players talking about the game coming to Mac. A Palworld players stated, “Crazy that there’s not more people talking about this. I don’t see a release date anywhere though. And they obviously haven’t posted a YouTube video announcing it yet.”
While Mac is not everyone’s first choice when it comes to gaming, getting games on the platform is still a win for all gamers alike.
