Gamers might soon get more news about the Silent Hill 2 remake and other games in an allegedly upcoming Sony State of Play.
According to a tweet from @Shpeshal_Nick on Twitter, the alleged State of Play will presumably happen on January 31. It also hinted it will feature a variety of games, and according to Xbox Two podcast host Rand al Thor 19, the following games will most likely appear in the event:
- Rise of the Ronin
- Death Stranding 2
- Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
- Sonic Generations Remaster
- Silent Hill 2
- Judas
Shpeshal_Nick’s cryptic tweet also mentioned that a new Metro game may also get featured during the event, though their tweet didn’t give any more hints to establish its name. Nevertheless, news about the upcoming Silent Hill 2 remake is worth noting, even as a rumor.
Gamers and Silent Hill fans may recall that the last time they ever got news about the remake was in December 2023, when Silent Hill producer Hajime Okamoto asked fans to “wait a little longer” for info on the Silent Hill 2 remake, per 4Gamer. Whether Sony’s rumored State of Play is what Okamoto was hinting last month is unknown.
Interestingly, reputable leaker Billbil-kun claimed on Dealabas that Death Stranding 2 will get a “second announcement” within the next 15 days, which could mean that the rumored State of Play could be true. It’s worth remembering that the personal assistant of Hideo Kojima published a photo of Kojima editing a video on Twitter, which seems to be titled “State_of_Play_XXXX_trailer_DS2.”
Moreover, Rand al Thor 19 believes that Supermassive Games will announce an Until Dawn remaster during the same event, per Game Rant, which would presumably coincide with its movie adaptation alongside the one for Death Stranding. Regardless, these pieces of information support the idea that Sony’s State of Play could be the event that gamers will get new information about the Silent Hill 2 remake and Death Stranding 2.
Sony’s State of Play has always been a hub to learn about the latest information on upcoming games. Gamers may recall that various game developers like Ubisoft, Capcom, and Insomniac Games used the event to reveal more about Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the Resident Evil 4 remake, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
As such, many gamers are excited about what the alleged Sony State of Play has in store, even if Sony has yet to confirm the rumors or officially announce the event’s schedule and what the event will showcase. Regardless, these are only rumors; gamers should still take such information with pinches of salt until Sony says something about its State of Play event for 2024. If past precedence is correct, the rumored event could happen sometime in Spring 2024.
