Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, the mastermind behind Stardew Valley and Haunted Chocolatier, has openly admitted that he might have revealed details about Haunted Chocolatier prematurely.
He stated in the Haunted Chocolatier channel in his Discord that he had been working on the Stardew Valley update 1.6 wherein he ended up adding a lot more content than planned. This led to the delay in his development of his new game, Haunted Chocolatier.
“I’ve been working on Stardew 1.6, which I didn’t originally intend on adding much to, but it kind of got out of hand with adding new content. So that has sidetracked my development on Haunted Chocolatier.”
ConcernedApe is the only developer working on two of the games, which is no easy feat. Thus, he stated that Haunted Chocolatier will come when it is ready.
“I know I maybe announced it too early, but I had my reasons for doing that,” he continued.
He first announced the new game on October 8, 2021, in his blog post. He stated that the idea for this new game came in a flash instead of being planned. His ten years of experience allowed him to feel confident in bringing a new idea to life.
Fans and supporters on Reddit expressed their support for the developer. Reddit user Erskol wanted others to show their support: “Let’s send him our support from here. His job is not easy, and he is the only developer. We love you very much, Mr. Barone.”
Stardew Valley has been around since February 2016, receiving continuous updates from its sole developer. Those eagerly anticipating Haunted Chocolatier are demonstrating admirable patience, emphasizing their desire for ConcernedApe to release the game only when he is fully satisfied with his work.
