Content Warning’s first major update includes a new map, 13 new monsters, customization options, and monster strength balancing.
After being claimed by over 6 million players during its first 24 hours, Content Warning is ready to bolster its name in the indie-horror game scene and move away from the shadows of Lethal Company with its first major update.
The indie game enjoyed the spotlight after its unique offer of being free to claim during its first day. With millions of players and (sadly) available for purchase, Content Warning is ready to drive its players to more clout-worthy monster chasing with 13 new monsters, a new map, and more in-game features.
Content Warning initially gained traction by being branded by players and streamers as similar to the 2023 blockbuster game Lethal Company. However, the gameplay feels nearly entirely different, and now, with more monsters and maps, the “vlogger-monster hunter” crossover is ready to dominate the horror game community.
The first major update since its April 1 release includes the following:
- Added a new map
- Added 13 new monsters
- Added new item, Rescue hook
- Added a hat shop
- Added unlockable sky island upgrades
- Added sponsored video deals that can be picked after the first week
- Added MetaCoins for purchasing island upgrades and hats
- Added a new rare cursed item in the old world
- Added a mirror in the house
The game also fixed in-game audio with better proximity voice chats.
If you haven’t played the game before, it is an exhilarating take on the classic four-player “lost in another dimension” genre. Instead of running away from monsters, Content Warning forces you to face your fears in a bid to rake in the most online views.
You’ll act as a group of content creators exploring the dark depths of the Old World as you ascend with the Diving Bell. Starting with the bare bones of just a camera and your strength, your friends will have to search for monsters in a black-and-white world, all while keeping track of your oxygen to ensure your return.
The aim of the game is simple: gather as much exciting and creepy footage of the Old World as possible in a bid to make it big on SpöökTube.
Based on my experience, rewatching your clips from the Old World once you upload the video on SpöökTube is among the most enjoyable aspects of Content Warning. The game also edits the clips for you, giving you the choice to keep the spooky yet fun memories on your computer!
