If you recently upgraded your Town Hall and are wondering which towers to upgrade first, we have a guide for the best towers to prioritize in Clash of Clans!
Supercell’s Clash of Clans is one of the best and longest-standing strategy mobile games in the market. Its call for wise strategy-making goes beyond your attacking prowess. Your village upgrades can make or break your game, too!
With hundreds of buildings in the home base, ranging from defensive buildings to army necessities and resource storage, it can get quite tricky to know which ones to upgrade first.
In this article, we’ll discuss the best buildings to prioritize so you can be on your best way to victory in your Clash of Clans journey!
What to upgrade first in Clash of Clans
Once your builder finishes your brand-new Town Hall, you’ll have a few new buildings in the store. But first and foremost, you must ramp up your attacking power to tend to the higher-level enemies you’ll now find on multiplayer attacks!
- Start Building New Defensive Buildings
Every new Town Hall level calls for more defenses, whether a brand new Archer Tower or massive defense towers like X-Bows and Inferno Towers. It would be wise to invest two builders to start building your new defense towers, as they would need to catch up with the level of the rest of your current buildings.
New defensive buildings may take a while for higher Town Halls (11 and above). Consider dedicating a builder to these new towers to keep up with the defense demands of your new Town Hall level.
- Laboratory and Spell Factory
Along with your new defensive buildings, you should also invest two builders for the most important upgrades on your offenses. Before unlocking new troops in the barracks, it is first critical to upgrade the laboratory to upgrade current troops and, in turn, have a higher chance of winning your attacks.
Another necessary upgrade for your offensive strategy is the Spell Factory. While you may still be sticking with the spells and troops you know and love, it is vital to amp up its spell capacity, specifically on Town Halls 7, 9, and 10.
- Clan Castle (Especially for Town Hall 10)
Clan Castle space is necessary for both defensive and offensive purposes. Moreover, it also upgrades your attacking prowess with extra troops and spells. What makes the Clan Castle so overpowered for Town Hall 10 players is the ability to request (or reinforce) Siege Machines that will absolutely make your attacks easier.
- Barracks, Army Camps
This is yet another upgrade for your offense. The barracks and army camps are up next once your two builders from the spell factory and laboratory are freed up. Upgrading the barracks introduces new troops and strategies, and having a larger troop size is vital for decimating enemy bases.
- Heroes
If you have a fifth builder (or sixth), you should dedicate it solely to upgrading your Heroes. While it can be a bummer to attack without your Heroes at first, it is more worth upgrading them while you miss out on a few Clan Wars while upgrading your other defenses. For Town Halls 10 and above, maximizing the power of Archer Queens is in your best interest, as the Queen Walk strategy is dominant in higher-level attacking strategies.
- Weaponized Town Hall (For Town Halls 12 and above)
Weaponized Town Halls are special defense towers integrated with your Town Hall. This is available starting at Town Hall 12 and above, starting with a Giga Tesla.
- Splash-damage Buildings
Once your new defensive towers (Cannons, Archer Towers, and Mortars) have caught up to your previous maximum level, you can now focus on upgrading your defenses.
You should first focus on upgrading Splash-damage buildings that would effectively stop smash-strategy attacks. These buildings include Eagle Artilleries, Scattershots, and Wizard Towers. Inferno Towers should also be prioritized as the tower with the highest defensive damage.
However, the Mortar can be upgraded later due to its slower and low-accuracy hits.
- Single-Target Buildings
Single-target buildings can also cause hefty damage to higher-level town halls. Cannons are notorious for stopping Queen Walks, throwing off even the most skilled enemies. Archer Towers are your second-in-line air defenses and should not be left behind.
- Resource Storage
Lastly, you should prepare your Resource Storage for your next upgrades and the next Town Hall. You may not need to upgrade this as early as other buildings, as most of your in-game currency (gold and elixir) will be spent on building upgrades, anyway.
- Collectors
Collectors are the last “buildings” on the list. If you’re a frequent attacker, collectors are far from your primary source of resources. However, you should also not disregard these buildings, as their hitpoints can significantly throw off your enemies’ strategies while attacking. Even if they’re not defensive buildings, enemy attackers must still funnel their troops and eliminate these buildings first.
- Walls
Last on the list are your village walls. These take the most resources, especially for Town Halls 10 and above! Make sure to upgrade your walls before leveling up your Town Hall, as the burden of the costs will rapidly stack up, and it will be harder to keep your walls up to par with your other defenses.
Why Laboratory and Spell Factory on second place?
You’ll need the Laboratory to unlock the higher levels of your troops!
