On a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA), the Clash of Clans General Manager reveals the plans to merge buildings, including the Town Hall and Eagle Artillery, in the next Town Hall level.
Since Supercell announced their plans to introduce a new Clash of Clans Town Hall every year, many players have donned their thinking hats to theorize what new features may be included in future updates.
While many speculated about adding new defensive buildings, one fact hindered its reality – the base was too crowded. In the recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) with Clash of Clans General Manager Stuart on the game’s official Subreddit, he gave the CoC community a glimpse of what is to come in future updates.
First, Stuart confirmed that the base is too crowded for further defensive building additions. Supercell plans to remedy this issue by merging all multiple-count defensive towers on Town Hall 17.
“Our plan is to use merging more in the future to keep the number of buildings in the Village reasonable. That gives us the space to introduce more new buildings with future Town Hall releases,” Stuart says.
Clash of Clans initially introduced merging defensive towers in the Town Hall 16 update last December 2023. Players of this level can combine two cannons into a Ricochet Cannon and two Archer Towers into a Multi-Archer Tower.
Furthermore, Stuard clarifies that merging will be necessary for future Town Hall 17 players and advises all “rushed” base players to upgrade their cannons and Archer Towers to keep up with the demands of future updates.
Another major change is that the devs are “80% sure” of merging the Eagle Artillery with the Town Hall, a feature similar to the Clan Capital base.
As for upcoming balance changes, the Clash of Clans dev clarifies that they keep a keen eye on 3-star rates for every Town Hall. And while the Root Rider has recently received the biggest nerf, we could expect more “learning tools” in the game instead of changes to defensive tower and troop damage.
Other changes and future developments discussed on the thread include changing the Super Troop system, possible changes to wall upgrade costs, and new clan recruitment features. You may read the summary of the whole Clash of Clans AMA below.
