The Godzilla City Smash game mode has landed with a thud, frustrating many Brawl Stars players with its numerous issues.
In this mode, part of the Brawl Stars x Godzilla collaboration, teams aim to demolish as much of the city as possible. One player on each side can even morph into Godzilla or Mechagodzilla to assist with smashing up the city.
However, the excitement quickly disappears once the gameplay starts, unveiling a host of bugs and balance issues. The mode restricts player choices severely, favoring a select few Brawlers due to glaring exploits. For instance, Otis is a must-have character on any team thanks to a glitch that allows him to massively overperform as Godzilla.
Other characters like Gray and Sprout are similarly problematic, exploiting bugs that can immobilize the enemy Godzilla, stripping the fun from the transformation.
And even if you manage to find a game in which the enemy team isn’t exploiting these bugs, morphing into both Godzilla forms feel incredibly underwhelming—they’re terribly slow and surprisingly feeble in their city-smashing roles.
Server stability has added another layer of frustration. Crashes and connection issues are rampant, causing many—including myself—to lose limited event entries and the chance at unlocking mutations through monster eggs which are far too scarce.
Adding insult to injury, this buggy and extremely non-competitive mode will affect your trophy count without warning, punishing those who aren’t exploiting the glitches with Otis and Gray, in particular.

From unfair matches and technical disruptions to the unrewarding experience of playing as Godzilla, the community’s verdict is clear: this might just be the worst game mode in Brawl Stars’ history. And while some may argue it’s all in good fun, the stakes are too high with trophies involved.
The current state of Godzilla City Smash is not just disappointing—it’s infuriating, turning what should have been an exciting event into a monstrous mess.
