Riot Games rolls out a special reward system in League of Legends that incentivizes players to report scripters with ranked points in the same patch as the Vanguard rollout.
League of Legends has been pulling all the necessary steps to eliminate cheaters from the game, especially as of patch 14.9. As the controversial Vanguard implementation seems insufficient, Riot Games now gives away League Points (LP) for players who report suspicious teammates or opponents.
While spamming reports used to be a way to grief your AFK teammate or flag your trash-talking opponent, LoL devs now highlight the importance of reporting game-disrupting behavior by awarding LP for investigated and successful reports.
The rewards include 15 LP and 2 Autofill Protected Games – which means you’ll likely get the desired role in the following games.
It remains unclear whether the rewards are only applicable for apprehending scripters or also available for AFK teammates and other unsportsmanlike game activities. However, the screenshot details “sabotaging,” which may not involve cheating to some extent.
Some data miners clarified that League of Legends does not award free Riot Points (RP) for reports, contrary to the surrounding news. However, the system rewards ARAM re-rolls and XP boosts for successful reports.
I have recently experienced a successful report for an AFK teammate in ARAM, with LoL rewarding me with two ARAM re-rolls for my next game. I suppose the rewards differ for each game mode, with LP rewards on ranked, XP boosts on normal Summoner’s Rift, and the re-rolls for ARAM.
As the frustration AFK teammates bring nearly reaches that of having scripting opponents, these steps from Riot Games only aim to assure a more fulfilling gameplay for League of Legends players.
Aside from the current game integrity changes in 14.9, many players also look forward to the upcoming 14.10 patch, which will include several items and Champion changes.
