Persona 5X surpasses expectations and achieves significant revenue despite only being released in three markets.
Persona 5: The Phantom X, Persona 5X or P5X for short, is a turn-based role-playing gacha game (RPG) developed by Black Wings Game Studio and published by Perfect World Games. It’s a spin-off of Persona 5 in a parallel universe. This was officially authorized by SEGA and Atlus.
Persona 5X released its Open Beta for China on April 12, 2024, followed by its release in South Korea and Taiwan on April 18, 2024. There is yet to be an official release for global, but some shared that Midori, a reliable Persona insider, said it could come in 2025.
Persona 5X successfully achieved huge pre-registration numbers in April for its Korea and Taiwan releases. In under a month, the game entered the tenth spot on Sensor Tower with a total revenue of $12,100,000 for its mobile version.
To break it down, Persona 5: The Phantom X achieved this through its Chinese market, with 5.5 million downloads and $11,000,000 in revenue in just 18 days. For its Korean Market, it had 400,000 downloads and a revenue of $1,100,000, which is still good on its own.
Like other gacha games, Persona 5X has its own character banners. The first limited-time banner featured upon open beta release was Ren Amamiya or Joker, the protagonist of Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal. This may have helped boost the game’s revenue during its first month.
Persona 5: The Phantom X now has Yui (Code Name: BUI) as its limited character banner (Korea Server) and will be available for 13 days. Stay tuned for more Persona 5X news and guides in the future!
