The developers of Valorant rush to fix the new Mystbloom skins that can act as a wallhack due to a bug.
Valorant is a 5v5 free-to-play first-person shooter (FPS) developed and published by Riot Games, the same company behind League of Legends. Players can match up randomly or team up with friends or other players for casual or competitive games.
While the game’s main highlight is its precise gunplay and Agent abilities, many players look forward to the melee and gun skins released. Since its launch in June 2020, the game has had around 841 weapon skins, with more to come.
One of the latest skin bundles released was Mystbloom, which many players were excited about due to its floral and pink design. However, the skin collection makes Valorant a “pay-to-win” game, allowing players to see the enemies’ locations behind walls.
This is a major problem in Valorant as it removes the fairness in the game. In the video, reloading the Sheriff lets the players hold the flower, illuminating the enemies’ outlines behind walls. They can use guns that can wall bang to damage or kill the enemies after revealing their location.
AverageJonas also shared his own tests on the Mystbloom skins’ unintentional wallhack. He thought that people were ‘memeing’ about it but found out that it was real. He primarily used the Operator in testing. He would inspect the gun, and the enemy’s location would be revealed by the scope’s flower.
Preeti Khanolkar, the Lead Producer for cosmetic content in Valorant, responded: “Sorry, Jonas! You know we wanna make cool skins, but pay-to-win isn’t acceptable or intentional.” They then added that the dev team is working on it: “We didn’t catch this, but we appreciate the community helping us find this. We’re fixing this bug now and will push out a fix soon.”
Hopefully, while a fix is underway, players with the Mystbloom skin won’t abuse the bug. An update may be coming again soon for Valorant containing the fix for the skin bundle.
