One of the most eye-catching skin lines in League of Legends, the Empyreans, returns with Malzahar’s first skin in nearly three years.
League of Legends skins may be nothing more than a visual upgrade for some, but Riot Games has developed a detailed universe and narrative in each skin line. Among the fan-favorite skin lines and alternate universe lore is the Empyrean skin.
With its neon appearance and out-of-this-world visuals, Empyrean stands out from other skin lines in LoL and is one of the most distinctive lines in the game. The skin line’s expansion on the upcoming 14.9 patch will feature Akali, Varus, Brand, Nocturne, Kayle, and Malzahar.
The news of the Champion inclusions was a delight to Malzahar mains, as his last purchasable skin, Debonair, dates back to 858 days ago.
LoL’s Empyrean 2024 skins features “must-have” Prestige Kayle skin
Aside from Malzahar, it has also been a while since the last skin line features of the Champions were included in the upcoming Empyrean expansion. Most notably, it has also been a year since Nocturne and Varus’ last skins.
It is worth noting the Three Honors Malzahar skin is not available for purchase and was released as a reward for players who reached an Honor Level in the said patch/season.
As far as the Empyrean skin lore goes, these Champions exist in an alternate future version of the League of Legends universe. In this alternate reality, the “Empyreans” tear through reality and, with their volatile powers, seek revenge or have a mission of their own.
In the usual League of Legends fashion of releasing a “prestige” version of each skin release, which costs a special price or mechanic, the Prestige Kayle draws eyes and hearts as a “must-have” skin.
Empyrean Kayle, Malzahar, Brand, Akali, and Nocturne costs 1350 RP (around $11 USD), while the Empyrean Varus costs 1820 RP (roughly $15 USD).
The Empyrean skin expansion will be available on May 1, 2024.
