Many Honkai: Star Rail fans regret not pulling for Ruan Mei, and here’s why.
Honkai: Star Rail is a turn-based role-playing game by miHoYo and HoYoverse, and it quickly became one of the most popular games worldwide for its story, the worlds, art style, and of course, its lively cast of characters.
Most of the significant characters that players encounter in the game are playable. Some may be featured in the standard banner, but the majority can only be obtained through their limited banners.
In a Reddit post, a player shared the “variety” in team compositions, basically having Ruan Mei in all of them. Players began expressing their regret over not pulling for Ruan Mei.
Ruan Mei may actually be one of the best support characters; if not, the best. There are other alternatives, such as Tingyun, but Ruan Mei offers a lot, especially for dual-DPS teams.
Ruan Mei is universal
As we can see in the Reddit user’s team composition, Ruan Mei is extremely versatile or “universal.” She can fit in with any team composition and even allows for two damage dealers. This is the reason why she’s one of the most used units in the game.
A HoYoLAB post containing the data from the survey conducted by the WeChat Official Account “Star Rail Workshop” found that Ruan Mei has a usage rate of 99% in Memory of Chaos (MoC) and 98.5% for Pure Fiction. This means that she’d been included in a lot of team compositions.
Ruan Mei’s kit offers a lot for teams
Ruan Mei’s kit is just insane. Her Skill makes her skill point (SP) positive and increases her allies’ DMG and Weakness Break Efficiency; her Talent gives 8%~10% SPD to her allies, and when allies break the enemy’s Weakness, she even deals Break DMG equal to a % of her Ice Break DMG.
Her Ultimate also lasts for two turns, raising all of her allies’ All-Type RES PEN 15%~30% and applying Thanatoplum Rebloom. The enemies have the flower on top of their heads, which essentially delays their next turn while dealing Break DMG based on Ruan Mei’s Ice Break DMG.
Ruan Mei is SP positive
Ruan Mei is a skill point (SP) positive character due to her Skill. When she uses it, she gains Overtone that would last for three turns. All her allies would have DMG increase and Weakness Break Efficiency increase by 50%.
You can basically just let her do Basic Attacks until running out of Overtone. With this, you wouldn’t waste skill points that could’ve been used by the damage dealers, healers, or sustains that could be crucial in keeping everyone alive.
I personally regret not getting her during her limited banner since I didn’t have enough Stellar Jades. While I have an overflowing supply of support characters since I have Sparkle, Huohuo, Fu Xuan, and more, I’d definitely still aim to get Ruan Mei when she has her re-run.
