A player may be Stardew Valley’s biggest heartbreaker after going on a marry-then-divorce spree for two in-game years to get portraits.
Stardew Valley is an indie game that has won the hearts of millions of players with its mix of farming simulation, social interaction, and exploration. It is an open-ended role-playing game developed and published by ConcernedApe and was originally released in 2016.
Players are given their grandpa’s old farm in Stardew Valley, where they start their new life among other villagers. They are free to do whatever they want, from farming to fishing to taking the town by storm by being its newest heartbreaker.
A Stardew Valley player did just that, spending two in-game years dedicated to breaking hearts and crushing dreams to collect the different portraits available in the game.
The player shared their collection of portraits of villagers, proudly displayed in their home. Once you marry one of the villagers and have 14 hearts with your spouse, their portrait can be bought through the Traveling Cart for 30,000g.
They detailed that three out of the 12 villagers they married were served divorce papers on their birthdays. This wasn’t cruel enough, as the player kicked them out of the house after summoning a rainstorm so they could propose to their next victim immediately. They shared that half the town doesn’t speak with them due to this and that they had no regrets.
They even shared a photo of their last wedding with Sam, which only the non-marriage villagers and children attended. This is the effect of serving divorce papers to all their previous spouses, leading to negative interactions with them and avoiding any of the player’s future weddings.
Portraits that were included that don’t require the player to marry the villager would be Morris’, which can be obtained through the Joja Catalogue. Another ‘portrait’ can be obtained from Leah on her 14-heart event, which is her painting of Marnie.
I believe that the original poster’s heartbreaker journey doesn’t stop here. They need to befriend and become roommates with Krobus to obtain its portrait, which was recently added in the Stardew Valley 1.6.3 patch. This may be the best outcome, as Krobus only deserves the best.
