Bloons TD 6 has revealed a new feature that lets devs “bring back the success to players” with Accolades for creators.
Bloons, one of the most successful tower defense franchises, has continuously dominated PC and mobile games with its Bloons TD 6 title. Six years after its initial release, Ninja Kiwi announced a feature that aims to “give back” to the player and creator community through revenue sharing.
The Bloon-popping game initially released its Map Editor feature back in October 2023. With an initial cost of 500 Monkey Money (in-game currency), this feature lets players try to make their own lanes and maps, all with unique obstacles and challenges to their heart’s desires.
The Map Editor feature was a vast success in the Bloons TD 6 community, with the best maps garnering thousands of upvotes and playtime from other players. Given this success, the devs behind BTD 6 plan to give back to its player base with the new “Accolades” system.
What are Accolades in Bloons TD6?
Accolades are a way for players to incentivize well-made community maps. If you’re a BTD 6 player who finished a player-made map, you can commend the maker by giving them an Accolade.
According to the most recent patch notes, players can choose from 12 positive Accolades: “Smart, Tricky, Beautiful, Fun, Masterpiece, and more!”
When a player grants a creator an Accolade, the system grants the map maker 35% of the revenue from the Accolade purchase, which can reach up to 50% if the player also uses their Creator Code.
Currently, the revenue-sharing feature is only available to players on platforms that support in-app purchases. Ninja Kiwi also announced that, as of the time being, the feature is exclusive to players who “register with Nexus according to their terms and to players on non-subscription platforms.”
It has yet to be announced if the revenue-sharing feature will be expanded to Community Challenges and Odysseys.
Beyond the Accolades, some other improvements to BTD 6 in the current patch include the first Geraldo skin, new Quests, and a new advanced map, Castle Revenge.
