A Stardew Valley player uncovers a convenient new catalogue in Marnie’s shop.
Stardew Valley is a cozy farming simulation game developed and published by ConcernedApe. It was released in 2016 for the PC, with other ports following in the next years.
Players inherit a run-down farm in Stardew Valley and are tasked with turning it into a thriving home by planting crops, raising animals, mining for ores, fishing, and engaging with the local community.
Stardew Valley players have been enjoying the 1.6 version update of the game for a while now, and they continuously find new content which helps them in the long run. One of these items is the new catalogue which can be bought from Marnie!
A Reddit user shared that they thought that the best 1.6 feature the dev gave players was the Prize Machine in the Mayor’s Manor, but they took this back. The fan believed that the best 1.6 feature now was the Animal Catalogue.
This item is a book that can be bought from Marnie’s Shop for 5,000g starting in Year 2. Reading the Animal Catalogue allows a player access to Marnie’s Shop when she’s not around. It can be found in the menu on the Special Items & Powers tab.
Many Stardew Valley players didn’t know about this new feature, which resulted in them waiting so long for Marnie to be at her job. Another fan also shared their frustrations as the item would’ve been useful as Marnie wasn’t available in her shop when they needed her the most to buy animals.

Many of the Stardew Valley players appreciated ConcernedApe’s effort in turning useful mods into base game features. They detailed that the Animal Catalogue was a nod to the Self-Service mod, while the Iridium Scythe was to the Harvest with Scythe mod.
