Stardew Valley’s latest 1.6 update gives players the chance to have colorful frogs to follow them around.
Stardew Valley is an open-ended country-life role-playing game developed and published by Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. It was released for the PC in February 2016 and has continuously received free updates over the years.
In the game, players inherit a run-down farm. Starting with a few coins and some hand-me-down tools, you’ll begin your new life, cultivating your patch of land into a thriving farm, befriending the local community, fishing, foraging, exploring mysterious caves, and so much more.
Stardew Valley players encounter many monsters in the Mines, Skull Caverns, and other locations. A player was doing their run in the regular Mines until they found a new item called “frog egg.”
The Stardew Valley player shared that the frog egg is a trinket, equipment that can be placed in the “trinket” slot, a new mechanic in the 1.6 update. In addition to the green frog the original poster shared, there may be different-colored ones depending on the location. One player replied that they got theirs at Skull Caverns and got a different variation.
The seemingly innocent and cute little frog that follows you around is actually very hungry. When you bring it with you to the Mines or other locations with monsters, they would casually just eat some of the monsters for you!
While it’s exciting to have a cute frog, some players also shared that they acquired a parrot egg while exploring the Skull Caverns. This would let them have a parrot follow them around, and it would also increase the chance that enemies drop gold when they’re killed.
The trinket slot will be unlocked when you claim Combat Mastery. Players must max out the other skills, such as Foraging and Fishing, to get into the Hidden Mastery Room. So enjoy the journey to becoming a master of all trades to gain access to these trinkets!
Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update definitely added more life to the game despite it being eight years old already. Players have been finding new things every day since it was released, so look out for more Stardew Valley news and guides!
