Stardew Valley’s upcoming 1.6 update will bring a fix to the unequal harvesting method in the current version.
Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game developed by ConcernedApe. It puts players in the shoes of a farmer who inherited their grandfather’s farm. The game has been available for PC and other platforms since 2016.
As the newest farmer in town, you have the chance to restore the farm to its former glory. Players can also explore the town and meet the villagers, help rebuild the Community Center, or simply go fishing.
The core feature of the game is farming and planting various seed crops that you can buy from Pierre or Joja. When the crops are fully grown, they will be available for harvesting. This could be done by pressing the pick-up button (right-click for PC).
With the Stardew Valley 1.6 update coming this March 19, ConcernedApe has been slowly releasing patch notes. In an announcement on March 12, the developer revealed that they have fixed a bug that made harvesting from left-to-right faster than right-to-left.
The developer clarified that the update would make both methods equally fast and not equally slow. This means that right-to-left harvesting would become as fast as left-to-right. A PC Gamer news member asked whether this bug had been in the game all along, to which ConcernedApe answered yes. They stated that the left-facing harvest animation was 100ms longer than it should’ve been.
This is definitely a win for all players, even if some never noticed this bug in the first place. A player was confused about how something like this could go unnoticed for so long. They haven’t played Stardew Valley in a while, but they watched a clip of someone going left-to-right and then right-to-left and saw the difference.
As seen in the clip shared on Reddit, the difference in the animation speed is definitely noticeable. Of course, it’s harder to notice things like this when you’re actually playing the game because you’re focused on harvesting. This fix is definitely a welcomed change that Stardew Valley players appreciate.
There has yet to be an official time on when the Stardew Valley 1.6 update will be available for PC, but definitely stay tuned for more of the patch notes!
