The Stardew Valley 1.6 update will be a “game-changer” for those who like growing fruit trees.
Stardew Valley is a delightful farming simulation game developed by ConcernedApe and released in 2016. It offers a blend of agricultural activities, relationship-building, exploration, and combat.
Players take on the role of a character who inherits a rundown farm from their grandfather in a small town called Pelican Town. Players start their new life with old tools and a few coins, aiming to turn this overgrown field into a thriving farm.
As players grow their farms and earn a stable amount of gold, they could start growing fruit trees. These trees need 28 days to mature and around 3 days to bear fruits ready for harvest.
ConcernedApe tweeted on March 12, 2024, that they had been working on the patch notes for the upcoming 1.6 update, which will be released on March 19.
The patch note revealed changes to fruit trees: “Cutting down a fruit tree now yields the appropriate fruit sapling. If the tree is mature (i.e. the fruit quality is > basic), it will yield a sapling with the same quality as its fruit. The higher the quality, the faster the sapling will mature when replanted.”
Some players asked whether the replanted fruit tree would bear the same quality fruit as the previous one, but ConcernedApe clarified that the trees would just grow faster. It would need to grow and go through all the stages again before the fruits become of higher quality.
Many fans were delighted with the simple yet helpful quality-of-life change, with one stating that it was a “game-changer.” Some expressed that this is helpful, especially during the late-game phase, where things must be moved.
When planting fruit trees before the 1.6 update, you need an optimal and permanent spot. It’s even better to have your farm plot planned out with planning tools available online.
As seen in our screenshot, the trees can be quite expensive, with the lowest price being 2000g for an Apricot Sapling. If you wish to cut down the tree to move it, you would only get normal wood from it, meaning you lost a lot of valuable gold.
Amazing changes are coming with the Stardew Valley 1.6 update, such as the bigger chests, which will solve the space issues from before. There isn’t a specific time when the update would come on March 19, but stay tuned for more information!
