Helldivers 2 is set to introduce a hotfix that lowers the difficulty following widespread complaints regarding recent balance changes.
Helldivers 2 is the popular sequel to the original Helldivers, a game celebrated for its intense cooperative play, challenging missions, and unique blend of strategy and shooter mechanics. It was developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Set in a satirical dystopian future, players join the Helldivers, an elite unit tasked with protecting humanity from various alien threats and preserving the Galactic Federation’s way of life. Here, they can join missions and complete objectives to liberate different planets from the aliens.
Recently, Helldivers 2 had an update that introduced nerfs and buffs to certain support weapons and stratagems. Many had been requesting weapon balancing since the railgun had been superior since its release, but this also led to missions becoming far too difficult for some players.
This is why the game’s developers spoke out regarding the issues regarding the enemies. Spitz, the Associate Community Manager of Helldivers’ official Discord server, stated that they heard the players’ concerns about the enemy spawns, armor, and their ability to kill these enemies.
They ensured that the Helldivers 2 team took in the players’ feedback and saw how they could tweak the game to ensure its fairness and enjoyability and give the best experience.
The Helldivers 2 team had been looking at possible changes to the enemies’ spawn rates and health pools of the larger ones. They stated that they’d be attempting to spread the spawning of these tougher mobs to prevent them from appearing all at once. They are also attempting to make them easier to bring down. All of these would be implemented in a future hotfix, but it has yet to announce a date.
They also shared that the EAT-17 and Recoilless Rifle no longer had the 50% damage decrease when hitting armored enemies at a ‘glance angle,’ which deflects the shot. They hoped that this, along with adjustments to enemy health and spawn rate, would lessen instances of the players’ endless kiting and no weaponry left.
A Helldivers 2 player expressed relief, saying that this was all they wanted. They didn’t mind the Breaker and Railgun nerf as long as they didn’t have to face seven Bile Titans all at once, which is incredibly challenging to deal with.
While there isn’t a specific release date for the hotfix yet, Helldivers 2 players must face these enemy spawns and hope for the best. All of the Helldivers’ sacrifices are worth it to liberate Super Earth from the alien threats, for Democracy!
