Helldivers 2 players are frustrated over the difficult missions they’re encountering amid the controversial weapon balancing.
Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter game developed by Arrowhead Game Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It has been well-received by gamers and is one of the most-played games on Steam. The game recently had a patch that included significant weapon balance changes.
In the game, players go on missions alone or with other Helldivers to battle aliens on the planet’s surface. They need stratagems and support weapons to clear out waves of enemies effectively.
As the Helldivers level up, they could undertake missions of higher difficulties. This would mean that there would be fiercer and more durable enemies and a lot more of them. Constant bug breaches could hinder a team’s ability to complete their objectives.
One Helldivers 2 player vented on Reddit, asking what to do with five Bile Titans and seven Chargers spawning simultaneously on a simple eradicate mission and wondering how this was balanced in any way.
The March 6 weapon balancing patch included buffs to certain weapons and nerfs for some of the most popular and useful weapons, such as the railgun.
The game developers wanted people to use what they like or what they think is fun, thus the recent changes to the support weapons.
Another player stated that the patch decreased the time between spawn waves on eradicate missions. They shared that when they did one, breaches had already opened after five seconds of their team arriving on the planet surface. They weren’t even able to call in the support weapons they wanted.
Another player replied that they should use the Orbital 380mm HE Barrage to one-shot the Bile Titans and possibly their teammates.
In the latest patch, the stratagem covers a decreased scatter area, which may make it more useful for those who have already bought it. Just make sure that it’s a general area in which the enemies would be spawning, not where they currently are since they do have legs.
This patch is only the beginning of the Helldivers 2 developers’ never-ending balancing journey. For now, players can only hope not to die while using their favorite support weapons and stratagems, but that’s very unlikely. As they say, do it for Super Earth and for democracy!
