Stardew Valley players have expressed their desire for a “hot dad” marriage option for the 1.6 update.
Stardew Valley is an indie farming simulation game developed by Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe. It was released in February 2016 and is around eight years old. It’s currently available for the PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, mobile, and more.
The players can enjoy the farmer’s life by growing their crops and foraging items while exploring the town, mining ores in the mines, or simply fishing in the ocean. While it’s fun to do all the hard work and labor to see your farm grow, there’s more to the game!
Like other simulation games, Stardew Valley allows its players to spend time with the villagers and raise their relationship with them. The game also has bachelors and bachelorettes, allowing the players to marry them!
A Stardew Valley player on Reddit pleaded to ConcernedApe, the game’s developer, to allow them to marry the “hot dad with a traumatic past,” also known as Kent. He is a villager of Pelican Town who only returns in the Spring of Year 2. He’s also Jodi’s husband and has two kids: Sam and Vincent.
It is known that Kent was a soldier and had post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during his service in the war. He’s even traumatized by his hated items, including the warp totem.
Another player expressed that the developer might not have wanted to add a homewrecker to the game because Kent is married to Jodi.
Meanwhile, one replied that homewrecking would be unnecessary; instead, have a few cut scenes of tensions between the couple, followed by a divorce. Then, these two would become available for dating.
There are Stardew Valley fans who opt out of marrying the “hot dad” since he gifts bombs in the farmer’s mailbox from time to time. Another player shared that if Kent became a marriage candidate, he would also get the “Shane treatment,” where people would see that he won’t magically become a new person and may regress due to his traumas.
While players are still stuck with the 12 marriage candidates in the game, they could always dive into mods and add more! With the 1.6 update coming soon in March 2024, look forward for more updates on Stardew Valley!
